Ah, qué cosas. Hoy tuve una plática muy breve con una amiga y me preguntó que si me gustaba bailar. "Sí, claro" fue mi respuesta. "¿De todo?" inquirió la chica. "Sí, desde Hip-hop hasta las más cumbiancheras", le dije. La chica se rió y dijo de pronto: "¿Me enseñarías a bailar cumbia? jaja". "No soy para nada buen maestro", contesté.
Después de la charla me dio curiosidad ver algunas fotos de fiestas de aquí y allá y encontré estos videos. El primero es de marzo de 2008, cuando tuve la oportunidad de visitar Paris por segunda ocasión. Un viernes, mi amigo Edwin Hatton hizo una pequeña reunión en su departamento a la que fueron Yuna, Meollin (no te rías Natalia), una colombiana, y yo. Después de la deliciosa cena, Edwin quería aprender a bailar cumbias y me pidió que le enseñara. Y bueno, Yuna grabó este video:

El segundo video es de un par de semanas después, cuando a finales de marzo fui a Bremerhaven (Alemania) a visitar a las encantadoras hermanas Hellmold. Un día, después de ir al museo de los migrantes alemanes, les preparé enchiladas de pollo y brindamos con tequila. Lisa, la hermana menor, de pronto dijo "ich möchte gerne mexikanischer musik tanzen lernen (me gustaría aprender a bailar música mexicana)". Prendí la computadora, abrí Youtube y puse "cumbias mexicanas". Como verán los primeros intentos fueron difíciles, pero creo que al final, la alemana Lisa Hellmold hasta le echaba su propio estilacho, jaja.
¿Quién más se apunta a las clases?

Segundo, yo me apunto a un curso intensivo de baile con el profesor Jordy. Y no es que no sepa bailar, sin embargo si dependo mucho de la pareja que me toque y por lo que pude ver en los videos creoq ue usted sabe llevar muy bien!

Ana: Ja, pues son las rolas de ley que ponen en las bodas y me encanta que siempre se ven dos tipos de personas: las que dicen "o sea ¿cómo ponen esas canciones?" y los que mejor se paran y bailan y se divierten.
El problema está en que no tengo un viaje en puerta a Playa del Carmen... pero eso no implica que no se pueda ir planeando, jaja. ¿Cómo sería un curso intensivo?
Mujer del traje gris: ¡Hola! Mi repertorio de vueltas "exóticas" y "malabarescas" es bastante reducido, no me sé más que 5 o 6. Sin embargo, tengo un amigo que qué bárbaro, casi te podría dar tres vueltas en el aire y seguir el ritmo de la cumbia como si nada. Esos sí son malabares. Por cierto, ¿cómo que son de circulación demandable? ¿son como para vender en Tepito bajo el título "baile cumbia en 10 pasos" o cómo? jaja.

I've as a last resort liked things like sand clocks, lava lamps, and the like to kind of just spend all at once staring at it as a form of catharsis.
